Lots of separating or divorcing couples would like to reach an agreement concerning their children and financial issues, but find it hard to speak to each other about these issues constructively without help.
Family Mediation can help you by providing a structured framework for your discussions to move forward to a conclusion. Mediators are neutral and cannot give advice to either side within the mediation process. We will encourage each of you to check with an independent solicitor about issues which arise during the process and to help you draft an agreement at the end of the process.
Successful mediation can avoid bitterness, legal expense and delay. It is usually completed in 3-5 sessions. If mediation is not working for you it can be stopped at any time as the process is entirely voluntary. We aim to provide a flexible and informal environment to allow you to achieve a tailored solution.
The Government has brought in a change for all family clients which came into effect on the 6th April 2011.
Anyone who wishes to apply for a children or financial order in the family courts, on or after that date, must first attend a Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting (MIAM) with an approved mediator. The Courts will be referring all potential applicants to see a mediator before any first application can be made.
Hanover has a trained and approved mediator who will be providing MIAM's for clients.
If you feel that mediation may be appropriate for you or would like to know more about mediation then please feel free to contact us.
